Senior Center Meals

The Jemez Valley Senior & Community Center is currently closed for events and lunch service inside, but is offering drive-up lunch service daily from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm. They are also offering Home-Delivered-Meals to local seniors who do not want to go out of their house at this time.

JVPS Free Breakfasts & Lunches

Jemez Valley Schools will be delivering breakfasts and lunches to students’ bus stops between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. These Grab-and-Go meals will be given to students or parents at the bus stop so watch for those meal deliveries. It would be helpful if you would inform us if you’d like to opt out. To opt out, please leave that message on the cafeteria phone by calling 505-842-0902 ext 327 or 575-834-7391 ext 318.

Childcare for Caregivers

New Mexico is offering several avenues of support for childcare during the coronavirus outbreak. New Mexico Caregiver Emergency Childcare Grants, made available through the New Mexico Caregivers Coalition, offer funding support for childcare to caregivers or home health care workers who have children between the ages of 0-12 in a child care setting. Grant amount is $100 and may be applied for up to three (3) times. More information and applications are available on the childcare grants webpage on the New Mexico Caregivers Coalition website.

Domestic Violence Support

Are you, or do you know, someone who has experienced domestic violence and are sheltering-in-pace with your abuser? Please reach out – set up a regular phone call/FaceTime with friends, neighbors, or family to establish a safety plan and know how to help if you make, or receive, a specific text/message/call. Keep the national hotline and this list of NM resources available:

Protection from Eviction
New Mexico courts ordered a pause on all evictions due to an inability to pay during the COVID-19 pandemic. This action protects renters from eviction during the virus outbreak period. Tenants will need to provide proof of their inability to pay. More information is available on the New Mexico Courts webpage.
Unemployment Support

Unemployment Insurance provides temporary financial assistance to qualified individuals who meet state eligibility requirements. Unemployment Insurance benefits are financed through employer payroll taxes; they are not deducted from employee paychecks.

The COVID-19 stimulus bill will expand Unemployment Insurance benefits, known as Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA), to include self-employed, independent contractors, and gig-economy workers.

$1200 Corona Virus Tax Relief

The IRS is providing economic relief payments for taxpayers affected by coronavirus (COVID-19). The IRS has already begun sending out checks. No further action is needed by taxpayers who filed tax returns in 2018 and 2019 and most seniors and retirees. If you have not filed taxes for 2018 or 2019 you may still qualify to apply for the $1200 Corona Virus Tax Relief “Economic Impact Payment”

Tip: When entering your info on the IRS website use ALL CAPS, especially for your address. Their search function regards “123 Main St” and “123 MAIN ST” differently and seems to only find the latter.

COVID-19 Talks by Dr. Lindman

The Jemez Springs Public Library has hosted a series of talks by Dr. Allison Lindman to share the latest regarding the COVID-19 “Coronavirus” outbreak. The presentations include information about the disease manifestation and transmission, and CDC guidelines for preventing transmission.

Available Library Services

The Jemez Springs Public Library is currently closed due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) restrictions. A reopening date has not yet been determined. Please know that we are working hard to keep online services available to patrons and appreciate your patience during these challenging times.

Please continue to use and hold onto any library materials you have at home

We are currently not able to empty the return box and would rather you continue to enjoy the items. If you choose to share items with friends please quarantine the items before sharing (ie leave them untouched in a bag for at least a week).

Public Wi-Fi will remain on

Wi-Fi (no password) will remain on at the library for patrons to use 24/7 from outside and in the parking lot. Please observe these rules: In order to keep everyone safe and comply with social distancing orders we request that a parent or guardian needs to stay with the children outside the library while they do homework. Also social distancing should be maintained by either having only one family (two people max as per the Governors rules) occupy each picnic table in the back (there are two tables), or a family can work from inside their car in the library parking lot. If the tables and parking lot are full, please come back at another time rather than crowding. If families have trouble connecting or the service is too slow due to combined use please contact us and we will try to correct the problem as soon as possible.

Requests for ebooks & audiobooks

Requests for ebooks & audiobooks will be accepted and considered for purchase on our OverDrive system if available. Please know that new releases tend to be high priced but we will try and add high demand titles.

Sorry, no new holds can be placed at this time. If you have an item on hold/reserve at the library it will be available when we open again.

No new Inter Library Loans

Sorry, no new Inter Library Loans at this time. Anything you have out may be returned to the book drop, or returned after we open again.

Library staff will be working onsite as well as from home to help ensure your accounts stay up to date and you have access to the online functions of your account. We will return calls and emails as soon as we can, please be patient as we work through this closure.
